RMSIR-LogoThe Sail in Asia team has just returned from Malaysia after competing in the prestigious Raja Muda International Regatta. The ten day competition began on the 15th November from the Royal Selangor Yacht Club, Port Klang, and drew over 40 yachts from across Asia and Australia. From there the fleet raced north to Pankor, then Penang and finally Langkawi.

Sail in Asia’s team raced on Piccolo, our Farr 1104, under the captaincy of Mike Downard. By the end of the regatta we had won almost every race in our class, and were even beating yachts in the class above!

All in all it was a highly successful regatta for the company. Three of the crew are part of the Sail in Asia Internship Programme, whilst the yacht’s navigation officer is undertaking the Fast Track Yachtmaster Course.

Regatta sailing is an excellent opportunity put into practice the theory taught on Sail in Asia’s IYT courses, as well as a great chance to hone your sailing skills in a competitive context.

Let’s hope we have similar success in December’s King’s Cup in Phuket and the Langkawi Regatta in January!
