Course Summary

The ISSA Keelboat Crew Course is a practical two-day introduction to sailing, designed for complete beginners with no previous experience. Using Sail in Asia’s responsive Platu keelboats, you’ll learn the essential skills needed to become a confident and effective member of a sailing crew.

During the course you’ll gain hands-on experience in rigging, helming, sail handling, tacking and gybing, sail trim, mooring and basic seamanship. The emphasis is firmly on practical sailing, allowing you to develop confidence and understand how a boat responds to wind, sails and crew input.

No previous sailing experience is required. Successful students receive the ISSA Keelboat Crew qualification and can continue their training with the ISSA Keelboat Skipper Course.

There is a  handbook that is available to students for elements to this course.  These can be purchased at the shop individually or in the near future as a compendium edition.
